Traffic jam on Dhaka roads

Commuters  have experienced heavy traffic congestion at different parts of the capital Dhaka today (Sunday).

Hundreds of vehicles got stranded in queue for long time due to the traffic jam.

Although traffic jam is a common phenomenon in the capital, the situation has aggravated due to digging of roads for Metro rail and other projects.

Traffic congestion is acute in Mirpur, Agargaon, Panthapath, Bijoy Sarani, Mohakhali, Dhanmondi, Technical, Sukrabad, New Market, Motijheel, Shanti Nagar, Moghbazar, Malibagh, Paltan, Farmgate, Karwan Bazar, Sheorapara, Rokeya Sarani, Shahbagh, Ptagati Sarani, Banani,  Uttara and Gabtoli areas.

City dwellers are hard hit by bottleneck of traffic jam due to multiplicity of vehicles amid Eid shopping.

Service holders, businessmen, students and other people cannot reach their destination timely.

As vehicular movement is seriously interrupted, ambulances carrying patients fail to rush to the hospitals properly.

Billal Hossain, an employee of a private company in Uttara, said " I left my office for New Market at 11am. It took three hours to reach destination.

I do not know when I will come back. We spend many hours of our life on the road due to traffic jam."
