Awami League resorted to hooliganism, says Khaleda

BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia on Sunday said Awami League has now resorted to hooliganism and anarchism to perpetuate power.

She made the disclosure while denouncing the attack on BNP top leaders' motorcade including its general secretary Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Sunday.

In a statement, she also said, "The incident is another exposure of the current vote-less government's sickening and vindictive politics."

The BNP chief said the attack on senior BNP leaders is the government's an evil effort to remove the last sign of democracy from the country.

Khaleda demanded the government immediately arrest the attackers and mete out exemplary punishment to them.

Earlier in the day, BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and some other party senior leaders were injured as local Awami League supporters allegedly attacked his motorcade at Isakhali in Rangunia upazila in Chittagong on their way to hillslides-hit Rangamati.

Terming the attack heinous and cowardly one, the BNP chief claimed that her party's 15 leaders, including Fakhrul, were injured in it.

"They've chosen chaos instead of peace, easiness and public security. Their main intention is suppress mass-protest by creating an appalling and scary situation in the country," she observed.
