Five people have been killed in different incidents of landslide caused by incessant rains in Khagrachhari and Moulvibazar on Sunday.
Three people, including two siblings, were killed and two others injured in separate landslides in Ramgarh and Lakkhichhara upazilas of Khagrachhari this morning.
The deceased are Nurunnabi, 14, and his younger brother Mohammad Hossain, 10, sons of Mostafa of Budongpara village under Ramgarh upazila and five- year-old Nipun Chakma, daughter of Debobroto Chakma of Jatindra Karbaripara in Lakkhichhara upazila.
Office-in-Charge of Ramgarh Police Station Shariful Islam said the incident took place due to the torrential rain. Mostafa's another son was injured in the incident.
In Moulvibazar, a woman and her teenage daughter were killed in a landslide at Dimai village under Borolekha upazila this morning.
The deceased are Afia Begum, 35, wife of Abdus Sattar of Dimai village, and her daughter Fahmida Begum, 13.
Officer-in-Charge of Borolekha Police Station Sahidur Rahman said they died on the spot after a big chunk of mud fell on their house.
Later, the locals recovered their bodies..
