Home-bound passengers of 21 South-Western districts have been facing immense sufferings due to long traffic congestion at Paturia ferry ghat in Shivalaya upazila on Friday.
Due to ferry crisis, the passengers are being compelled to wait at the ferry ghat for two to three hours.
Hundreds of buses, trucks and other small vehicles were seen stuck in a long tailback at Paturia ferry terminal, reports UNB.
Zillur Rahman, assistant general manager (AGM) of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC), said that a total of 15 ferries have been operating. Besides, two more ferries-- 'Motiur Rahman' and 'Barkat'-- are being brought from Narayanganj dockyard.
