BJMC official rescued 18 hours after abduction

Police rescued an official of Bangladesh Jute Mills Corporation (BJMC) from Fultala Bazar area in Khulna on Tuesday afternoon 18 hours after he was abducted by some miscreants.

Police said Assistant Manager of BJMC Raton Kumar, 28, was kidnapped by four to five criminals from Fultala Bazar area around 7:30 pm yesterday.

Assistant Commissioner of Detective Branch Police of KMP AM Kamrul Islam said kidnappers later contacted with his family members over phone and demanded Taka one lakh as ransom. 

The kidnapper also asked his family members to come to a grocery shop near Fultala Bazar with the ransom if they want to set Ratan free. 

Then family of Ratan informed police about the matter and the lawenforcers rescued him from the shop, said Islam. 

Ratan is a resident of BJMC Staff Quarter located in Charer Hat area in Khulna, he said, adding that police could not arrest any kidnappers. A case was filed in this regard.
