BCB HP Team take 2-0 lead beating Northern Territory

A magnificent hundred by Nazmul Hossain Shanto and four for 36 by pacer Mohammad Saifuddin guided Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) High Performance Team to 70-run victory over Northern Territory Invitational Eleven in the second match of the five-match one-day series at the Marrara Cricket Ground-1 in Darwin on Thursday.


Batting first, BCB HP Team collected 313 runs in the scoreboard losing 7 wickets from the stipulated 50 overs.


Shanto plundered a brilliant knock of 101 runs while Anamul Haque Bijoy and Irfan Shukkur contributed with 58 and 60 runs respectively in the team total.


Chasing the target, Northern Territory lost their all wickets haplessly for 243 runs from 45.3 overs.


Saifuddin was Northern Territory’s nightmare as he bagged four wickets conceding 36 runs. Pacer Ibadat Hossain took two for 35.


Earlier on Wednesday, BCB HP Squad got off to a good start beating Northern Territory Invitational Eleven by one wicket in the first match.


Sent in to bat first, hosts Northern Territory Eleven scored 189 for 7 in stipulated 50 overs featuring 54 runs in the 3rd wicket stand.


Abul Hasan Raju grabbed two wickets for 34 runs while Mohammad Saifuddin, Abu Hider Rony, Jubair Hossain and Abu Jayed Chowdury Rahi took one wicket each.


In reply, BCB HP Team scored the match-winner 190 for the loss of nine wickets in 49.3 overs with number seven batsman Abu Hider Rony contributing an unconquered 51 runs off 83 balls hitting four boundaries.


Besides, captain-cum-opening batsman Litton Kumar Das scored 31-ball 41 runs with four fours and a six, Abul Hasan Raju made a patient 58-ball 31 runs with two fours while another opener Anamul Haque Bijoy made 29-ball 20 runs with a boundary.


Their next match on Friday at the same venue.

The touring BCB HP team will play the remaining one-day matches against local teams on July 9 and 11 respectively, all at the Marrara Cricket Ground (MCG) 1 in Darwin.


Moreover, BCB HP Squad will play one three-day match against local selections on July 13-15, also at the Marrara Cricket Ground (MCG) 1 in Darwin.


Besides, playing the matches the HP side is also due to train at the MCG 2 field and MCG 2 nets.
