Prize-giving ceremony of UIU essay contest held

The prize-giving ceremony of inter school/college essay competition organised by Economics Department of United International University (UIU) was held on its main campus in the capital on Saturday.

Prof Mustafizur Rahman, distinguished fellow of CPD, was present at the ceremony as the chief guest, says a press release.  

The topic of the competition was ‘Potential Economic Impacts of the Padma Bridge’.

Students from classes IX-XII and O/A level were eligible for the competition.

Students from 46 educational institutions across the country participated in the competition. All participants received certificates and gifts while top 10 participants were invited to present their essays.

Md Kaf Shahrier of Faujdarhat Cadet College won the first prize of Tk 50,000 for the best essay where Fawziyah Fariha of Feni Girls’ Cadet College got the second prize of Tk 30,000 and Sibbir Ryan Prottoy of Faujdarhat Cadet College received the third prize of Tk 20,000.

Registrar, heads of different departments, teachers, guardians, students and the invited guests were also present in the programme.

The next essay competition of UIU will be held in September – October, 2018.
