Bangladesh Rural Development Board (BRDB) disbursed over Taka 12.38 crore loans among 2,829 members of 270 groups in six upazilas of Narsingdi district.
An official said the percentage of loan disbursement stands at 77 percent as the BRDB earlier has fixed a target to disburse loan of Taka 16 crore for the last fiscal (2016-17).
During the last fiscal, the BRDB realised over Taka 12.33 crore as outstanding loans against the target of over Taka 18.36 crore showing 67 percent recovery rate.
The six projects are Rural Livelihood project, Palli Pragati project, Self-Employment for Poverty Alleviation project, Indigent Freedom Fighters and Their Defendant Rehabilitation project, Afro Asian Rural Development project and Women Development project.
Bangladesh Rural Development Board disbursed the loans through various groups for crop cultivation, setting up small dairy and poultry farms and different income generating projects.
BRDB has imparted training to 3,130 men and women on self-employment under its different courses as cooperative management, agriculture, skill development and income generating activities.
