RAB enters Ashulia 'militant hideout'

A team of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) led by its top officials entered a suspected militant hideout at Ashulia of Savar, on the outskirts of Dhaka, on Sunday morning.


The team of RAB led by Mufti Mahmud Khan, director of the force's legal and media wing, entered the house in Chaurabari area under Pathalia union at 9:00am.


Earlier, RAB  cordoned off a suspected militant den in Chakalgram Chourapara area of  Pathalia union in Ashulia, on the outskirts of the capital.


The elite police also arrested house owner, Ibrahim, said RAB official Mufti Mahmud.


Sources at RAB-4 said that they cordoned off the one-storey house since 1:00 am.


Sensing presence of the elite police, the militants fired gunshots several times upon them.


For security measures, the residents were being shifted to safe place.


Check-posts have been set up at important points on the surrounding roads.


A number of RAB members has been deployed in the area to avert any untoward incident.
