140 peacekeepers leave for Darfur UN mission

One hundred forty police personnel of Bangladesh Police left Dhaka for joining the UN peacekeeping mission in Darfur, Sudan in a chartered aircraft of the United Nations (UN) in the early hours of Sunday.

 

Superintendent of Police M Saifullah Bin Anwar is leading the Bangladesh Formed Police Unit-2 (BANFPU-2) team as commander to establish peace in volatile Darfur, reports BSS.

 

Different police officials of Bangladesh Police were present at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport to see off the peacekeeping team, said a release.

 

Over 1,000 police personnel are now working in various UN peacekeeping missions to establish peace in different volatile areas across the globe.
