A Dhaka court has convicted four people and sentenced them to death for killing a septuagenarian woman in Dohar upazila in 2008.
After examining the records and witnesses, Dhaka 8th Additional District and Sessions Judge handed down the verdict on Monday, reports UNB.
The court also fined the condemned convicts—Rajon Kha, Shahnaz Begum, Sumon and Fazal alias Foysal, residents of Dohar area, Tk 20,000.
According to the prosecution, the convicts swooped on Ayesha Begum, 70, a resident of Ghata area in Dohar and tried to snatch her gold ornaments.
As she recognised the snatchers, they strangled her to death .
Abdul Kuddus, son of Ayesha, filed a case with Dohar Police Station.
Sub-inspector Mujibur Rahman, also the investigation officer of the case, submitted charge sheet against them on December 17, 2008.
