World number one all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan helped Jamaica Tallawhs beat Barbados Tridents by 12 runs in their 2nd match in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) T20 cricket on Sunday.
The Bangladeshi cricket ace performed an all-round performance at Central Broward Regional Park Stadium Turf Ground, Lauderhill which brought a sweet revenge for Jamaica Tallawahs of their 12-run defeat against the same team (Barbados) on Saturday at the same venue.
Shakib Al Hasan, who scored only one run and took one wicket on his side’s 12-run defeat against the same team in the 1st match, played an important role for the team’s maiden victory scoring unconquered 44 runs off just 32 balls featuring five fours and one six in addition to taking one wicket.
Favoured by coin in the 2nd match on Sunday, Jamaica Tallawahs batted first and scored a moderate 154 for 5 in 20 overs.
One down Andre McCarthy contributed 60 runs off 44 deliveries featuring three fours and three sixes while opener Lendl Simmons made 32-ball 30 runs with three boundaries, in addition to Shakib Al Hasan’s unbeaten 44 runs.
Pakistani Wahab Riaz grabbed three wickets for 32 runs. He captured all the wickets in tine maiden 11th over.
In reply, Barbados Tridents were all out for 142 runs in the last ball of the innings despite Kieron Pollard’s captain knock of 62 runs off 33 balls featuring two fours and six sixes.
Opener Dwayne Smith scored 31-ball 20 runs with two boundaries.
Pakistani Mohammad Sami made the major damage to the Barbados innings claiming four wickets for 12 runs in his four-over spell while Shakib took one wicket conceding 28 runs.
