Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) have arrested an alleged smuggler along with 35 gold bars from Putkhali border in Benapole.
The arrestee was identified as Abdul Momin, 35, son of Nur Islam, a resident of Ulashi village in Sharsha upazila.
Lt Col Tariqul Hakim, commanding officer of BGB-21 battalion, said that on secret information, a team of BGB conducted a drive in the area and arrested Momin along with gold bars worth Tk 1.40 crore on Tuesday morning.
They also seized his motorbike, said the BGB official.
A case was filed with Benapole Port Police Station..
