World famed all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan contributed 16 runs as his team Jamaica Tallawahs earned the 2nd consecutive win in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) T20 defeating Tribango Knight Riders by four wickets at Queen's Park Oval, Port of Spain, Trinidad on Thursday morning (Bangladesh time).
Tallawahs chased a target of 148 runs for 6 in 19.2 overs with Sri Lankan wicketkeeper-batsman Kumar Sangakkara top-scoring 47, reports UNB.
Lendl Simmons (38), Jonathan Foo (19) and Rovman Powell (18) were the other double digit scorers for the winners.
Shakib faced 22 balls to score 16 before being caught and bowled by all-rounder Kevon Cooper at 132/5 in 17.3 overs and remained wicketless conceding 12 runs bowling one over.
Sent in to bat first, Tribango Knight Riders scored 147 for all in 19.5 overs with Colin Munro’s top-scoring 41 runs. Darren Bravo (33), Sunil Narine (23) and opener Brendon McCullum (16) were the other notable scorers reaching the double figure for the side.
However, Bangladesh’s young all-rounder Mehedi Hasan Miraz was not included in the best eleven of the Tribango Knight Riders for the 3rd consecutive match and he is still watching the CPL matches sitting in the dugout.
He, however, did not miss the company of his senior Shakib as both the Bangladeshi cricketers took lunch together.
Shakib got 1 and 1 with bat and ball in the first match when Jamaica Tallawahs conceded a 12-run defeat against Barbados Tridents, but bounced back in form with unbeaten 44 runs off 32 balls, featuring five fours and one six in addition to taking one wicket, for the same margin victory against the Barbados Tridents.
