The inquiry committee formed by Brac University for probing the incident of teacher assault submitted its report on Wednesday with recommendation for terminating its registrar M Sahool Afzal.
The university authorities received the probe report from the inquiry committee at 8:30 pm on Wednesday, reports UNB.
"As the Registrar has no legal authority, to unlawfully restrain Law Department teacher Farhaan Uddin Ahmed against his will, either by himself, or by ordering others to do so, we are recommending his resignation, and in case of non-compliance, his termination to be followed in due process of law", said the probe body in its report.
The probe body also recommended Farhaan Uddin's termination or confirmation to be resolved based solely on his academic research, teaching evaluation, service to university, community service, and self-development, and not by invoking clause 7 of the appointment letter and also not based on the PDC's evaluation.
The committee also recommended changes in university policies and guidelines.
Lecturer of the Law Department Farhaan Uddin Ahmed filed a complaint against Registrar Muhammad Sahool Afzal, Assistant Registrar Md Mahi Uddin and senior officer at the office of co-curricular activities Jabed Rasel over the assault on him on July 30.
Following this allegation students staged demonstration in front of the university demanding the resignation of the registrar while six students went on hunger strike to meet the demand.
