The three-day practice match between Tamim Iqbal-led Bangladesh Green team and Test captain Mushifiqur Rahim’s led Red team ended in draw as the 3rd and final day’s play was washed out without a single ball being bowled due to rain at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong on Friday.
Earlier on the 2nd day (Thursday), Green team led by Tamim Iqbal, took an overall 119-run lead over Bangladesh Red team in the three-day practice match arranged ahead of the this month’s Test series against Australia.
Replying to Mushfiqur Rahim’s Bangladesh Red team’s first innings total of 140 for 9 in 47.1 overs, Bangladesh Green team resumed the first innings on Thursday with the overnight total of 49 for 1 in 17 overs and piled up 283 all out in 78.3 overs to take the 143-run lead in the first innings.
After the departure of top three batsmen -- Liton Das (5),Tamim Iqbal (29) and Sabbir Rahman (10) -- for 89 runs in 29.3 overs, one down Mominul Haque pairing with number five Nasir Hossain contributed 60 runs in the 4th wicket stand and later Nasir Hossain again partnering with Tanvir Haider added another 65 runs in the 5th wicket stand.
Mominul Haque, who was in batting with 23, finally scored 73 runs off 135 balls with five fours while all rounder Nasir Hossain scored 92-ball 62 runs featuring three fours and three sixes and number six Tanvir Haider made 61-ball 51 runs with help of eight boundaries.
Rubel Hossain and Saqlain Sajib grabbed three wickets each conceding 54 and 64 runs while Tajul Islam bagged two wickets for 80 runs.
In reply, Bangladesh Red team opened the 2nd innings Thursday afternoon and scored 24 for 1 in five overs to trail by 119 runs.
