Trading on the country's two bourses -- Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) -- is underway with negative trends of share-price indices on Wednesday after last two days' closure for Janmashtami and National Mourning Day.
DSEX, the benchmark index of DSE, shed over 26.20 points or 0.44 percent to 5,895.38 at 1:39 pm.
The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) lost 5.38 points or 0.41 percent to stand at 1,306 points.
The DS30 index, comprising blue chips, also declined 10.95 points or 0.51 percent to stand at 2,115.07 points.
Trade deals stood at 92,163 with volume of transactions at Tk 5,939.91 million.
Of the issues traded till then, 74 advanced, 219 declined and 37 remained unchanged.
BBS Cables was the most traded stocks with shares worth Tk 335.78 million changing hands till then followed by Uttara Bank, IFAD Autos, IFIC Bank and Pubali Bank.
The port city bourse - Chittagong Stocks Exchange (CSE) - also witnessed downward trend in early hours with its Selective Category Index losing 40.97 points to 11,070.75, also at 1:37 pm.
Of the issues traded till then, 65 gained, 149 declined and 17 remained unchanged.
