The surgical operation on Muktamoni’s right arm, which is affected by an unknown disease since her early age, was carried out successfully on Tuesday at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), reports BSS.
“The operation started at 9 am and successfully ended around 11.30 am,” Dr M Mahbubur Rahman of Surgery Department of DMCH told BSS.
“She would be kept in Intensive Care Unit (ICU) till tomorrow (Wednesday),” the doctor said adding, “It’s a great success for us that the operation has become successful without amputation of her affected hand.”
Muktamoni would need a series of surgical operations to get cured as there are a number of tumors in her blood vessel, the doctor informed.
The next steps will be taken after monitoring Muktamoni’s condition, said the doctor. Seven surgeons and five anesthetists took part in the surgery, among others.
Earlier, doctors were scheduled to conduct the second surgery on last Tuesday but could not operate as she had been suffering from fever.
Meanwhile, she is also being given a specialized diet from the hospital, he added.
