Former treble winner Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra Ltd were forced to a goalless draw by Mohammedan Sporting Club Ltd in their round-7 encounter of Bangladesh Premier League on Thursday.
The match kicked off at 7:15 in a floodlit Bangabandhu National Stadium in the capital.
Sheikh Russel and Mohammedan, who were in sixth and seventh places of BPL points table respectively after round-6, tried to bring down their best performance in the field to secure full points. But at the end none of the team had the last laugh of victory.
In the first match of the day, Team BJMC and newly promoted Saif Sporting Club Ltd were held to a goalless draw at Bangabandhu National Stadium.
The match kicked off at 5 pm with much anticipation but both team’s attacks, counter-attacks and defence tactics forced the scorecard to remain 0-0 till the final whistle.
Saif Sporting’s defender Topu Barman was handed a red card in the first half (42nd minute) and they played the second half of the match with a 10-man team.
Yesterday was the last day of the round-7 encounters. The eighth round matches of BPL will commence from September 10 at Bangabandhu National Stadium.
