Prime Minister reaches Rohingya camps at Ukhiya

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has reached Rohingya refugee camps at Kutupalong of Ukhiya upazila in Cox's Bazar district.

The Prime Minister reached around 11:40 am on Tuesday.


Earlier, Hasina left Dhaka on a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight around 9:15am on Tuesday to distribute aid among Rohingya refugees fleeing violence in Myanmar.

Sheikh Hasina talked to some Rohingya refugees in a camp of Kutupalong.

At that time, a gloomy, dismal and painful situation was created in the camp area.

The prime minister is accompanied by Disaster Management and Relief Minister Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury Maya, State Minister for Defence Mosharraf Hossain and State Minister for Land Saifuzzaman Chowdhury.


More than three lakh Myanmar nationals entered Bangladesh since August 23 amid violence in Rakhine state of Myanmar.


The government is going to construct a camp on some 2,000 acres of land at Kutupalong of Ukhia upazila in Cox’s Bazar to rehabilitate the Rohingyas fleeing persecution in Myanmar.
