Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) has inaugurated a project involving Taka 784 crore for the development of Matuail union parishad, a newly attached area of Dhaka-Narayanganj-Demra (DND) with DSCC.
Under the project, 65.56 kilometres road and 46.10 kilometres sewerage line will be constructed and 2,188 light emitting diode (LED) lights will be installed on 267 roads. The project is scheduled to be implemented by the next two years, reports BSS.
DSCC Mayor Mohammad Sayeed Khokon inaugurated the project and addressed a view-exchange meeting at Matuail High School playground with acting chairman of the union parishad Rashed Ali on Sunday.
Addressing the function, Sayeed Khokon said the development project was inaugurated as a part of DSCC's ongoing development activities to facilitate civic amenities to all the citizens of the newly attached eight unions with the city corporation.
Earlier, different development projects were inaugurated at Sarulia union parishad, the mayor said, adding that similar development activities will be taken and implemented gradually at rest of the union parishads.
DSCC Chief Executive Officer Khan Mohammad Bilal, Chief Engineer Farazi Shahabuddin Ahmed, local Awami League leader Kazi Manirul Islam Manu and projects directors were present at the function, among others.
