Sherpur district police arrested one more absconding accused from Sherpur Sadar thana area on Saturday in connection with recovery of huge quantity of chemicals.
Sherpur district police conducted a drive at shop of Nokla upazila on Thursday night after getting secret information from Intelligence section of Police Headquarters and Bagora district police.
During the drive, the police recovered 18 containers of liquid chemicals, which usually used for making bombs. Minara, the owner of the shop was arrested on Friday, reports UNB.
Acting on a tip-off, a Sherpur district police team conducted a drive at Sherpur Sadar upazila on Saturday and arrested another absconding accused Fayaz Uddin.
Police primarily suspected that the recovered chemicals were stored in the shop to carry out subversive and terrorism activities in various temples of Sherpur district by a militant group, said AIG (Media) of police headquarters Soheli Ferdouse.
They (Militants) had panned to conduct major subversive acts but it was foiled due to activities of law enforcers, she said.
Though Minara Begum is the owner of the shop, but she rented out the shop to one Md Fayaz Uddin,
The seized chemicals, included 200 kg nitric acid, 35 kg Sulfuric Acid, 100 kgs of Chloroform and dichloromethane, 65 kg sulfuric acid Tetrohydrofuran, 160 kgs hydrogen peroxide and 35 kg chloroform.
The recovered chemicals are being examined in Sherpur district.
A case was filed with Nokla police station accusing Minara Begum, Fayaz and another one absconding person under Exclusive Substance act..
