The six-day ‘National Youth Theatre Festival ends on Thursday in the city.
People’s theatre Association (PTA) in association of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy and Ministry of Cultural Affairs arranged the festival.
The 6th edition of the festival concluded at National Dance and Music Auditorium of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy in the capital on Thursday.
Presided over by Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy director general and founder of People’s Theatre Association, Liaquat Ali Lucky, theatre personality Ramendra Majumdar and dramatist Mamunur Rashid were present as guest of honour at the concluding ceremony of the festival which held at 5:30 pm on Thursday.
Earlier on September 30, Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister’s Office Dr Kamal Abdul Naser Chowdhury inaugurated the festival.
Cultural Affairs Secretary Ibraheem Hosein Khan, theatre personality Ataur Rahman and secretary general of Bangladesh Group Federation Aktaruzzaman were present as special guests at the inaugural ceremony.
A total of nine groups from different universities and colleges and 18 groups from all over the country participated in the six-day event.
The festival featured as many as 32 stage plays and the show of staging play was begun every day at 6:30pm. Each day five dramas were staged at the Studio Theatre Hall and National Music and Dance Auditorium of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy simultaneously.
It may be mentioned that, PTA has been contributing for 27 years in the theatre movement with the participation of teenage and youth.
