The Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) witnessed upward trends in early trading on Wednesday as optimistic investors remain active.
Within the first one hour of trading, the key index of the country's major bourse advanced 64.55 points while the Selective Category Index of port city bourse gained 125.77 points.
DSEX, the prime index of the DSE went up by 64.55 points or 1.05 percent to stand at 6,206.36 at 11:49 am.
The two other indices also saw positive trend till then. The DS30 index, comprising blue chips also advanced 24.74 points or 1.12 percent to stand at 2,231.74.
The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) also gained 3.96 points or 0.29 percent to reach at 1,351.76.
Turnover, the crucial indicator of the market, stands at Tk 3,987.50 million on the DSE, riding on BRAC Bank and City Bank.
BRAC Bank Ltd dominated the turnover chart with shares worth Tk 341.05 million changing hands till then, closely followed by City Bank, Uttara Bank and LankaBangla Finance.
Of the issues traded till then, 143 advanced, 126 declined and 38 issues remained unchanged.
The port city bourse, the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE), also saw positive trend till then with its Selective Category Index - CSCX - advancing 125.77 points to stand at 11,668.91 also at 11:50 am.
Of 168 issues traded till then, 70 gained, 80 declined and 17 remained unchanged with a turnover value of Tk 162 million.
