Bangladesh U-19 team got off to a winning start in the Youth U-19 Asia Cup Cricket tournament with a two-wickets victory over Nepal U-19 team in Duckworth-Lewis method held on Saturday at Kinrara Academy in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Forced to bat first by Bangladesh, Nepal scored 167 for 6 in 40.1 overs as rain forced to stop the match. Bim Sakari was the top scorer for Nepal with 44 runs.
As per the D/L method a new revised target of 181 runs was set for Bangladesh from 40 overs to win the match and the youth side chased down the target one ball remaining. Nayeem Sheikh top scored with 52 runs followed by Asia Hossain 33, Pinak Ghosh 24, Mahidul Islam 23 and Touhid Hridaoy 12.
Bangladesh will play their second group match against host Malaysia on Monday (November 13) and meet India in their last match scheduled to be held on Tuesday (November 14) at the same venue.
