The 170th birth anniversary of Mir Mosharraf Hossain, a great Bengali novelist, playwright and essayist in 19th century, will be observed on Wednesday in a befitting manner.
Bangla Academy will organize a discussion and cultural function at the Mir Mosharraf Hossain Memorial Center at Padami in Baliakandi upazila of Rajbari district.
Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor will inaugurate the function as the chief guest at 10 am, said a press release.
Lawmaker Md Zillur Rahman, Acting Deputy Commissioner of Rajbari Dr AKM Azadur Rahman and Baliakandi upazila Chairman Md Abul Kalam Azad will address it as special guests with Bangla Academy Director General Professor Shamsuzzaman Khan in the chair.
North Bengal International University Vice-Chancellor Professor Abdul Jalil will present a keynote paper on the life and works of Mosharraf while Academy Secretary Mohammad Anwar Hossain will give welcome speech in the discussion.
Later, a cultural function will be held.
