Mahira Khan is back in the spotlight, but this time around, it is not for her alleged romance with Ranbir Kapoor, but her film ‘Verna’ that is in hot water. The film directed by Shoaib Mansoor has reportedly been banned in Pakistan because of its “objectionable” content – rape, reports Times of India.
While the film’s director has appealed against the ban, the film’s leading lady took to her Twitter account to share her thoughts about the same. Mahira said, “Tonight I realize how powerful artists are, not those in power. We are. Why else do we get banned? Why else do our films pose a threat to them? In this game of power - we will always win. Art/love/truth always does! #PowerDiGame #verna”
Early this week, the actress had taken to the micro-blogging site to state, “May the power of the voices of the people be stronger than a few in positions of power. #verna”
According to reports, the Sindh Board of Film Censors (SBFC) suggested that the film doesn’t have to be banned if it’s topic on rape by the governor’s son is "tweeted and censored a bit."
