Chittagong University (CU) Vice Chancellor (VC) Professor Dr Iftekhar Uddin Chowdhury observed that disabled persons are not burden for the society since all facilities have been made available for them.


The VC said this while inaugurating a rally organised marking the two-day '26th International and 19th National Disabled Day' programme on the university campus on Tuesday.


Disabled Students' Society of CU (DISSCU) organised the programme with the slogan 'Sustainable and Enriched Society for All' this year.
Greeting the participants VC Iftekhar said once the disabled persons were deprived of many rights including education and entertainment in their family, society and the country.


"But, now all the facilities are available for them due to relentless efforts by the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina," he said.  The VC called upon solvent people of the society to come forward for engaging disabled persons in development activities.


DISSCU General Secretary Md Moniruzzaman conducted the programme with its President Suman Chandra Barman in the chair.
