BNP standing committee member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury has alleged that people are passing through critical time as the prices of essentials have gone out of their buying capacity.
“Now prices of rice, meat, vegetable including onion have gone beyond the purchasing capacity of the people,” said Khasru while addressing a discussion in the city on Wednesday.
Ganotantrik Sanskritik Jote arranged the discussion marking upcoming Victory Day at the Jatiya Press Club.
The BNP leader said now the people of Bangladesh are deprived of not only democratic rights, but they are deprived economically too. The people are losing their purchasing capacity, he added.
Khasru claimed that the prices of essentials are on rise due to lack of coordination and utter mismanagement of the government.
He claimed now electricity tariff is 200 percent higher and gas price 80 percent higher than their prices during the BNP regime. Power tariff are being increased again and again to widen profits of Awami League’s businessmen of rental and quick rental power plants, he alleged.
He said the people now are paying high price due to corruption in the rental and quick rental power generation.
