The 10th meeting of the board of governors of South Asian University (SAARC University) was held at Hotel Ashok in New Delhi on Monday.
A total of 15 members from eight SAARC countries and senior officials of the Ministry of External Affairs, India, attended the meeting with Prof Dr Parashar Prasad Koirala, the chairman of Nepal's University Grants Commission (UGC), in the chair.
The meeting discussed the future sustainability strategy of the university along with academic and financial plans for the university, a press release said.
The board expected that the South Asian University would become a center of excellence of higher education in the region within a decade.
Prof Abdul Mannan, the chairman of University Grants Commission (UGC) of Bangladesh and Md Shamsul Haque, director general of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (SAARC), attended the meeting from Bangladesh.
