Newborn dies in Manikganj over wrong treatment

A newborn baby has died at a private clinic in Balirtek area of Manikganj Sadar upazila allegedly for wrong treatment, UNB reports.

Victim family members alleged that Maksuda, wife of Mishuk Rana, a resident of Bhararia village, was admitted to 'Ekota Clinic' around 10 pm on Sunday night as she felt labour pain.

Later, she gave birth to a baby girl through a caesarian section.

However, during the operation, the doctors cut a portion of the head of the baby girl, claimed the family members.

Later, the baby died on the way to Dhaka as her condition was deteriorating on Monday morning.

The family members spotted the deep injury mark on the baby's head along with stitch while bathing the body.

They claimed that the baby died from excessive bleeding.

After the operation, doctors used cotton and towels to hide the injury mark, claimed the victim, adding that her baby died for the negligence of the doctor.

Md Habibullah, officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station, said on information, they recovered the body for an autopsy.

Contacted, physician Nazmul Hasan, who conducted the operation, admitted the head injury of the newborn during operation but he claimed that the baby might have died from cold disease as her condition was not good after delivery.
