Opening ceremony of a special exhibition of artworks by eminent Hashem Khan will be held on Friday at the Sufia Kamal auditorium of Bangladesh National Museum.
National Museum is organising the special exhibition titled 'Joratalir Chalchitra' by the Ekushey Padak and Independence Day Award winning artist from January 5 to 31.
Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed and Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor will be present as the guests of honor in the inaugural ceremony.
Professor Shamsuzzaman Khan, artist Rafiqun Nabi and Professor Muntasir Mamun will be present while Professor Borhan Uddin Khan Jahangir will preside over the ceremony. Director General of Bangladesh National Museum Fayzul Latif Chowdhury will deliver welcome speech.
Born in Chandpur, Hashem Khan graduated from Faculty of Fine Arts, Dhaka University in 1961.He was a professor at the Faculty of Fine Arts for 44 years and retired in 2007. As he was born and grew up in a village his works reflect the natural beauty of the village, rural life, and many other things. His drawing style is different and has made a significant contribution in the book covers and illustrations.
This renowned artist has been painting regularly since 1956 and attended 50 exhibitions at home and abroad. His oil painting was considered as the best painting of the artists of 14 countries in Bulgaria's 8th International Oil Painting Workshop in 1989.
He was one of the leaders of introducing the 'Nabanna' festival, spring festival, Mongol Shovajatra, and Bangla New Year celebrations etc. He was one of the active activist and organizer, who inspires other artistes for joining the mass movement of '69 and actively involved in the liberation war in 1971.
