RANGPUR: Government officials and experts on Saturday said Bangladesh is moving on the highway of development with increasing economic growth to become a middle-income nation by 2021 and developed country by 2041, reports BSS.
They came up with the opinion this afternoon in the concluding and prize distribution ceremony of the three-day ‘Development Fair- 2018’ organised by district administration on the Public Library ground.
The fair was organised to focus on huge successes achieved in the social advancement, economy, digitisation and other fields of national development by the government during the past nine years to inspire common people participate in the development process.
Different departments and institutions, non-governmental organisations and other bodies had set up 120 stalls in the fair showcasing their respective developments achieved in various fields.
Divisional Commissioner Kazi Hassan Ahmed attended the ceremony as the chief guest and distributed prizes among the owners of best stalls set up in the fair.
With Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Wahiduzzaman in the chair, Superintending Engineer of the Roads and Highways Department Mahbubul Alam Khan and Executive Engineer of the LGED Akhter Hossain addressed the function as special guests.
The Deputy Commissioner discussed on tremendous successes achieved in every sector during the past nine years by the government graduating the country to lower middle-income status by improving people’s life standard.
Executive Engineer Akhter Hossain said the country has achieved unprecedented successes in infrastructures, socio-economy, women empowerment, agriculture, poverty reduction, education, power, health and all other sectors during the past nine years.
“Bangladesh has become a role model of development under able leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina,” he said adding that successful digitisation is speeding up uplifts in building a middle income nation by 2021.
Superintending Engineer Mahbubul Alam Khan said the nation has achieved laudable successes in the digitisation, Branding Bangladesh, ICT, IT and socioeconomic sectors to speed up development on way to building a developed country.
