High Court rejects writ petition over appointment of Chief Justice

 

The High Court has rejected the writ petition that filed challenging the inaction of the authorities to fill the post of the Chief Justice. 

 

The bench of Justice Zinat Ara and Justice Kazi Md Ejarul Haque Akondo passed the order, after hearing session of the petition on Sunday.


Earlier on January 3, Eunus Ali Akond, a lawyer of the Supreme Court, submitted the writ petition to the HC seeking it directives why the inaction of the authorities to fill the post of the Chief Justice should not be declared unconstitutional.

 

Following resignation of Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha on November 10 last year, the post of Chief Justice fell vacant for more than two months.
