Progotishil Chhatra Jote (PCJ) activists have sealed off the main entrance of the Arts Building of Dhaka University protesting the January 23 attack on demonstrators by the Bangladesh Chhatra League activists and demanded punishment for the BCL men.
They took position outside the building at 7am Monday forcing students and teachers to use the back door of the building and other entrances through the proctor’s office and the dean’s office to reach classrooms.
Progotishil Chhatra Jote, a combine of left-leaning student organization in the country, is observing the countrywide strike at all educational institutions protesting the BCL attack on students.
Samajtantrik Chhatra Front President Imran Habib Rumon announced the strike programme on Wednesday, a day after the leaders and activists of BCL assaulted the demonstrating students.
At least ten Dhaka University students received injuries when the leaders and activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) of the university unit attacked them on Tuesday afternoon.
The incident took place on the campus when the activists of the ruling party’s student wing have stepped in to rescue the Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Prof Akhtaruzzaman, who has been besieged by a group of students.
