The police have tightened security in the capital amid fear of subversive acts over tomorrow’s verdict in a graft case against BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia.
A huge number of law enforcers, including RAB personnel and detectives, have been deployed at different strategic points in the city.
Police and RAB check-posts have been set up at all entry and exit points in the capital.
In many areas, police and RAB personnel were seen searching many suspected persons and motor vehicles on Tuesday.
Police said additional law enforcers will be deployed in different parts of the capital today to fend off any untoward situation.
Officers-in-charge of all police stations in the metropolis have been asked to stay alert.
On Tuesday, Dhaka Metropolitan Police imposed a restriction on carrying firearms, explosives and weapons and holding any rally and procession tomorrow.
The restriction will come into effect from 4:00am tomorrow and continue until further notice.
“No one is above the law. If anyone tries to break the law and create any anarchic situation destroying public property, s/he will be punished,” DMP commissioner Asaduzzaman Mia said earlier..
