Health and Family Welfare Minister Muhammad Nasim has urged doctors and others concerned to perform their duties with utmost sincerity and honesty to reach healthcare services at the doorstep of rural and marginalised people.
Rural and marginalised people are totally dependent on public hospitals for emergency health problems and that is why the present government is committed to reach healthcare services to them, he said while addressing a view exchange meeting at the conference hall of Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH).
The Health Minister said the government, led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, is sincerely working to ensure qualitative and standard healthcare services to all, reports BSS.
Chaired by Fazley Hossain Badsha, MP, the meeting was addressed, among others, by former mayor of Rajshahi City Corporation AHM Khairuzzaman Liton, RMCH director Brig Gen Jamilur Rahman, vice chancellor of Rajshahi Medical University Prof Masum Habib and principal of Rajshahi Medical College Prof Anwar Habib.
Speaking as the chief guest, Nasim said the government appointed 6,500 doctors in 2014 and it has a plan to appoint 10,000 more doctors in the near future.
He said the problem of nurses has already been resolved through appointment of 10,000 nurses.
Vice-chancellor has been appointed in the newly introduced Rajshahi Medical University, the Health Minister said, adding that necessary measures were taken to build infrastructures of the university.
