'Pitha Mela and Basanta Utsab' begins in Panchagarh

A two-day "Pitha Utsab and Basanta Mela-1424" began Wednesday at Panchagarh Mokbular Rahman Government College ground in Panchagarh. 

Principal of the college Professor Md Delwar Hossain Prodhan inaugurated the "Pitha Utsab and Basanta Mela" as the chief guest with Convener of the events' organising committee Ainun Nishat Khan Himu in the chair, reports BSS. 

Assistant Professor of the Department of Bengali of the college Reazul Islam Ripan, Panchagarh Press Club President Shafikul Alam Shafik, freedom fighter Sarwar Hossain, among others, addressed. 

The whole college campus turned yellow following celebrations of the 'Pitha Utsab and Basanta Mela' with participation of the male and female students, youths, girls, adolescents, women and children attired in traditional yellow and red dresses. 

Authority of Panchagarh Mokbular Rahman Government College has been organizing the two-day celebrations to welcome the spring through colourful Basanta rally, discussions, cultural functions and other programmes. 

The students of the college, different women organisations, entrepreneurs and individuals have set up 20 stalls in the 'Pitha Utsab and Basanta Mela' to display and sell over 100 traditional varieties 'Pithas' (cakes) prepared by them. 

Students of the college have been staging dramas and presenting cultural functions during the two days attracting many enthusiastic audience including men, women, adolescents, girls, youths and commoners.
