Sojib, Sovansundar mesmerise audience at Chhayanaut

Shwapnil Sojib from Bangladesh and Sovansundar Bosu from India mesmerised audience at Chhayanaut on Wednesday. 

They were performed at an‘evening of recitation and songs’ titled ‘Love of Spring’ at the Main Auditorium of Chhayanaut in the capital at 6.30 pm on the day.

They were accompanied by Asit Biswas on Esraj,  Alamgir Hossain on Octopad, Bappi Mondal on Tabla, Avijit Chakraborty Jitu on Guitar and Rajib Ahmed on Keyboard.

Dance Artistes  were Abu Nyeem and Shopnil Tazrian Iccha.

Shovansundar Bosu enthralled the audience by fabulous recitation of Purbo Poshchim-Achintyakumar Sengupta, Chipkhan Tin Dhar- Satyrndranath Dutta, Khachar Pakhi-Rabindranath Tagore, Nirvoy-Rabindranath tagore, Ek Gaye -Raindranath Taore, Shishu Bholanath-Rabindranath Tagore, Bidrohi-Kazi Nazrul Islam and Sesh Bosonto- Rabindranath Tagore.  

While, Shwapnil Shojib mesmerised audience by rendering some hit songs like- Labonye Purnopran -Rabindranath Tagore, Amar Hiyar Majhe -Rabindranath Tagore, Venge Mor Ghorer Chabii- Rabindranath Tagore, Jodi Tare Nai Chini -Rabindranath Tagore, Amar Gaye Joto- Folk song, Valobeshe Sokhi- Rabindranath Tagore, Bondhu bine pran- Folk song, Majhe Majhe Tobo- Rabindranath Tagore and Fagun Haway Haway- Rabindranath Tagore (with Dance).

Shwapnil Shojib is one of the prominent Rabindra Sangeet singers in Bangladesh. He completed four years diploma in music from Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, Faridpur, and also trained at Chayanaut Sangeet Biddayaton.

He has also trained in Rabindra Sangeet under Rezwana Chowdhuri Bannya. He also learnt Hindustani Classical Vocal Music and Loghu Shangeet from celebrated artiste Ustad Ali Imam Chowdhuri. He has released three solo musical CDs from Bangladesh and another from Kolkata. His musical, The Tagore Treasury for G series Agniveena was a hit. He has also rendered voice for—“Shruti Geetobitan”.

Shwapnil has won several awards including National awards like “Prothom Maan” award in 2007, 2009 and 2011 by Jatiyo Rabindra Sangeet Sammilan Parishad, Gold Medals at “Jatiyo Shikkha Shoptaho” in Rabindra Sangeet in 2000 & 2001, First Prize in Rabindra Sangeet arranged by National University of Bangladesh etc.

He is an enlisted artiste of Bangladesh Television and Betar and also regularly performs in different TV channels of Bangladesh and India.

He has participated in prestigious stage concerts in Bangladesh, India, USA, U.K. and Australia. He is associated with different cultural organisations of Bangladesh such as Bangladesh Rabindra Sangeet Shilpi Shangstha, Surer Dhara and Shadhona Shangskritik Mondal. While, Shovansundar Bosu is a rising star in the cultural arena in West Bengal as a “Poetry Performer Recitation Artiste”. His unique brand of ‘Poetry with Music’ and ‘Kobita Concert’ performances have become a hit in West Bengal and also in many foreign countries, like UK, USA etc. where he is often invited to perform.

Shovansundar is a permanent artiste of All India Radio since 1984 and is presently the Moderator of recitation and spoken word programmes, both in All India Radio and Doordarshan Kendra, Kolkata.

He has created a new wave in the Bengali performing art scenario by introducing on stage live instrumentation and rhythms in Bengali recitation. He has created BRISHTI the first and only recitation or poetry performance Band in India. Saregama HMV released audio CD of BRISHTI in the year 2003. Saregama HMV has also produced first visual CD on his poetry recitation in 2005 which was directed by eminent Film Director Raja Sen.

Kobita Concert’ 2009 is the first concert of Bengali poetry where world famous percussionist, Bickram Ghosh, played on stage with Shovansundar in Kolkata.  TV channel Ruposhi Bangla of Kolkata featured Shovansundar Bosu as a host cum performer of their popular morning Sunday show ‘Aaji e Robir Provate—sange Shovansundar’.
