A special Dhaka court on Tuesday ordered the jail authority to produce BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia in the court on March 28 and 29 over the Zia Charitable Trust graft case.
Judge Md Akhteruzzaman of Dhaka Special Court-5 passed the order and fixed the date for producing Khaleda Zia in the court.
The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) lawyer Mosharraf Hossain Kajal applied to the court for producing BNP Chairperson Khaleda before it.
He said that it is not possible to continue arguments of the case without the presence of Khaleda Zia in the court. So the court ordered Khaleda to appear before the court on a fixed date.
On August 8, 2010, the ACC filed the Zia Charitable Trust graft case with Tejgaon Police Station accusing four people including Khaleda Zia for misappropriating over Tk 3 crore 15 lakh 43 thousand that came as grants from a foreign bank for orphans.
On February 8, a special court in Dhaka sentenced Khaleda Zia to five years imprisonment jail in the graft case.
