Awami League holds milad mahfil for ex-lawmaker Razzaque

The Rangpur district unit of Awami League (AL) organised a milad mahfil at its office last night seeking eternal peace for the departed soul of language movement hero and former AL lawmaker Shah Md Abdur Razzaque. 


A number of leaders, workers and activists of the district and city units of AL and its associate bodies, including Jubo League, Chhatra League, Swechchasebak League and Sramik League, attended the milad mahfil. 

Acting president of district AL Mamtaz Uddin Ahmed, its general secretary Rezaul Karim Raju, office secretary Tauhidur Rahman Tutul, vice-president of AL city unit Shah Md Nabiullah Panna, among others, spoke on the occasion.

Later, a special munajat was offered seeking the divine blessings for the departed soul of Razzaque, also a freedom fighter.

Earlier, Razzaque died of old age complications at his Mahiganj residence in Rangpur on March 12, 2018.

He was a close associate of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, a front line language movement activist and former president of Rangpur district unit of Awami League. 

He was elected as a member of the Legislative Assembly in 1970 and member of the parliament from Rangpur-4 (Kawnia-Pirgachha) constituency in 1973 and 1986.
