A mobile court of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has fined United Hospital, a private hospital in Dhaka’s Gulshan Tk 20 lakh for keeping expired reagents and surgical thread.

The court  found surgical items without any expiry date mentioned and there were imported drugs without any country of origin stated.

Speaking at a press briefing held at the hospital on Wednesday noon after the drive, Executive Magistrate Sarwar Alam said they slapped the fines during a drive on the private hospital’s laboratory and pharmacy.

 They found expired reagent in the hospital’s lab as well as un-registered drugs in the pharmacy, he said.

Sarwar Alam said they started the drive against use of expired reagent in lab and selling un-registered drugs.

The hospital authorities were given a 15-day time to take measures to rectify the irregularities.
