RAJSHAHI UNIVERSITY: More than two hundred students of Rajshahi University (RU) under the banner of “General Students” brought out jubilant rally welcoming Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for demolition quota system around 2.00pm.
The rally, led by convener of RU unit quota reservation committee Masud Munnaf, started from in front of university central library and parading different roads of the campus ended at the starting point of the campus.
Convener of RU unit quota reservation committee Masud Munnaf said, they would not take any responsibility if anyone create anarchy situation on the campus without their concerning the matter. Few persons are trying to create anarchy situation on the campus.However, he suggested the students to be careful about evil group who try to tarnish Prime Minister image and reputation in country and outside on using their banner.
Among others, Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), a student wing of ruling Awami League of RU unit Golam Kibria, general secretary Faisal Ahmed Runo, joint convener of the committee Shafiqul Islam Nahid, Rasedul Islam Mobin, Salauddin Sayem, Mohini, Masud Sheik and Halim Sheikh were present there.
On the other hand, leaders and activist of BCL brought out grand rally welcoming prime minister for the same the issue while more than three hundred leaders and activists were present there. The rally started around 12pm, from their party tent and parading different roads of the campus terminated at the same palace.
Among others, BCL vice president of central committee of Fariya Jaman Orna, RU unit president Golam Kibria, general secretary Faisal Ahmed Runo, vice president Saddam Hossain, Organizing secretary Imran Khan Nahid and Mehedee Hasan Mishu, among others, were present.
However, BCL formed a human chain demanding withdraw of suspension to BCL president Iffat Jahan Esha of Kabi Sufia Kamal Hall unit of Dhaka University. The human chain was formed around 5pm in front of central library. They also demanded punishment who harassment her on the hall identifying video footage. Otherwise they would go on trough movement if their demand is not met with the shortest time as soon as possible.
On Wednesday, the authority of DU has expelled Esha for allegedly torturing a female protester inside the hall on early Wednesday. Earlier, the BCL central executive committee also expelled Esha on charge of ‘violating organisational discipline’.
