Tangail UP chairman, another sent to jail in forgery case

A Tangail court on Sunday sent two people, including a UP chairman, to jail in a cheating and forgery case.

Senior Judicial Magistrate Aminul Islam passed the order when they surrendered before his court seeking bail in the case.

The accused are Moinuddin Talukdar, chairman of Deopara union parishad in Ghatail, and Moslem Uddin, father-in-law of the complainant, hailing from Deopara village.

According to the case statement, Moslem's son Lutfar Rahman who used to work in Saudi Arabia died in 2016.

After Lutfar's death, his father and the chairman fabricated a fake inheritance certificate mentioning that Lutfar left another family in Saudi Arabia.

Later, Sultana Begum, Lutfar's wife, filed a case accusing her father-in-law and the UP chairman with a local court on August 6, 2017.
