On the occasion of Bangla New Year 1425, two young singers, Monirul Islam and Farhadur Islam Bony, have paid tribute to Polli Kobi (rustic poet) Jasimuddin by singing a song of the legendary poet.
Two youths of different occupations met together for the first time to give a modern twist to the song which actually became popular after sung by legendary folk singer Abbas Uddin.
“Amai bhashaili re.. amai dubaili reee” was officially released on a Youtube channel on Sunday.
While sharing excitement with UNB, Bony said, “We tried to present the song to the young generation in a new style.”
“We hope the song will be able to win hearts of the Bengali speaking people around the world,” Bony said.
“I heard the song first in Runa Laila’s voice. Since then, I became a fan of the song,” said another performer Monir.
“It’s my first song. We are also planning to perform some basic songs,” he said.
Bony, a former student of Public Administration department of Dhaka University and Monir, a former student of Mass Communication and Journalism department of the same university are the batch mates.
The journey of their song has begun from the beginning of their friendship.
Bony is now working as the communication manager of a multinational company and Monir as a senior reporter of Jamuna Television.
