Chairman of the Islami Bank Bangladesh Limited (IBBL) Arastoo Khan have resigned from his post on “personal grounds” on Tuesday.
The resignation of Arastoo Khan was accepted at a board meeting of the bank on Tuesday and the meeting also approved the appointment of Dhaka University professor M Nazmul Hassan as new chairman.
Dr Hassan started his career as a lecturer in Dhaka University in 1975. Then he completed his MS and PhD in development economics.
Thereafter he was appointed as professor at the Institute of Nutrition and Food Science of the university in 1993.
The former secretary Arastoo Khan was made chairman of the most profitable private bank on January 5, 2017.
The Bank authority made the change after Chairman Mustafa Anwar stepped down on health grounds at the 240th meeting of the board of directors.
