3 policemen injured in Dhaka gunfight with yaba peddlers

Three policemen have sustained bullet injuries as drug dealer fired gunshots targeting the law enforcers during an anti-drug drive in the city’s Gendaria area.

 

Police arrested two alleged drug dealers, one with bullet injury, along with 2,000 pieces of yaba pills from their possessions.

 

Injured police men are – ASI Mohsin Ali, ASI Moshiur Rahman and Constable Bashir Uddin of Gendaria police station.

 

Arrested drug dealers are – Jewel, 20, and Sonia, 24. Jewel sustained bullet injuries in his leg.

 

Acting on a secret information, a special team of Gendaria police station conducted a drive at a flat of multi-storied building at 60/3 Din Nath Sen Road of Ghuntighar Sheltek Gali under the police station at around 4:20 pm on Thursday.

 

Sensing presence of the law enforcers, one of the drug dealers, known as Babul, fled the scene firing indiscriminately injuring the three policemen, said Assistant Commissioner (Wari Zone) Md Shamsuzzaman Babu.

 

Police arrested Sonia from the flat. When Jewel was trying to flee the scene during the firing, police also fired gunshot and arrested Jewel with bullet injuries, he said adding that 2000 pieces of yaba tablets were recovered from their possessions.

 

Arrested Jewel and the three policemen were rushed to nearby Asgar Ali Hospital, AC (Wari Zone) said.
