Sylhet’s rail links restored after 6 hrs

The train communications of Sylhet with other parts of the country resumed on Tuesday morning after a suspension of six hours due to the collapse of a tree on a train locomotive in Kamalganj upazila of Moulvibazar district.

Quoting Shamsernagar Railway Station master Kabir Ahmed UNB said a tree fell on the engine of Sylhet-bound intercity train 'Udayan Express' from Chattogram in Lawachhara National Park area during a storm around 4:30am, snapping the rail communications on the Sylhet-Dhaka and Sylhet-Chattogram routes.

Several hundred passengers had to undergo untold sufferings due to the accident.

The rail communications resumed around 9:30 am after the tree was removed from the tracks, said Ismail Hossain, Sreemangal Railway Station master.
