Zia shares 3rd position in Kolkata Open Chess

GM Ziaur Rahman Zia sharing 3rd position in the points table along with other 14 players with 4 points after the 5th round games in the 3rd Kolkata International Open Grandmasters Chess tournament now being held at Kolkata, West Bengal in India, reports BSS.

FM Syed Mahfuzur Rahman secured 3.5 points, IM Abu Sufian Shakil, FM Sk. Nasir Ahmed, FM Mohammad Fahad Rahman and FM Kh. Aminul Islasm bagged 3 points. 

IM Mohammad Minhaz Uddin earned 2.5 points, FM Mehdi Hasan Parag, CM S M Sharon and CM Sohel Chowdhury earned 2 points each, CM Chanchal Kumer Ghosh, M Anisuzzaman Jewel, Mukaddesur Rahman Khan and Tahsin Tajwar Zia secured 1.5 points each and WIM Rani Hamid earned 1 point after 5th round games.

In the day's 5th round games were held on Friday, GM Zia split point with GM Sandipan Chanda of India, FM Fahad lost to FM Erigaisi Arjun of India, FM Mahfuz beat Kaustav Kundu of India, IM Shakil beat Mahindrakar Indrajeet of India, FM Nasir drew with Alan Diviya Raj of India, FM Amin beat Balasubramaniam of India, IM Minhaz drew with Kulkarni Vinayak of India, FM Pagar split point with Jaeel Atharva of India, CM Sohel drew with WFM Bidhar Rutumbara of India, CM Chanchal lost to Nitin Shankar Madhu of India, CM Sharon beat Sa Kannan of India, Mukaddes split point with Siddharth Sabharishankar of India, Jewel split point with Om Kharola of India, Tahsin drew with Didwania Vishal of India.
