BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir went to London from Thailand on Sunday morning to ‘meet party acting chairman Tarique Rahman’.
“Sir (Fakhrul) arrived in London early morning from Bangkok. He along with Tarique Rahman will join an iftar party in the evening at central London to be hosted by BNP,” London Chapter BNP president MA Malek told.
Party sources said the BNP secretary general mainly went to the UK to discuss with the party acting chairman various crucial issues, including waging a movement, party chairperson Khaleda Zia’s release from jail and joining the next general election.
Earlier on June 3, Fakhrul along with his wife Rahat Ara Begum went to Bangkok for medical treatment.
The BNP leader received treatment at Bumrungrad International Hospital there for various health complexities, including blockage in his internal carotid artery and cardiac problem.
His wife returned home from Bangkok on Thursday last. Fakhrul was scheduled to return home on June 10.
